1999 Mercedes-Benz SL 500 For Sale

The car runs smoothly and the 302hp 5.0L V8 still has a very satisfying response on the open road, and still looks fantastic! I’ve always adored the R129, they’re easy to work on and find parts for. This was my first convertible – turns out I love it enough to want to daily-drive one – so I bought a lower mileage 2016 SL. I bought it in May 2024, and have only put ~2500 miles on it. My mechanic said it’s in great shape for ~26y, and mileage (~99.6K). Has some quirks, minor rattles, and shows some signs of wear. Mechanical, body and electrical are all in very good shape. Tires & brakes are in good shape, responsive, and have a good amount of life left. All exterior lights work well. Interior lights are also good. -Recently replaced windshield – Soft top hydraulics replaced last year (Top Hydraulics), cleaned/regressed hydraulic motor. Functions smoothly! -Replaced A/C blower motor, works great & runs cold – Valve cover gaskets replaced by prev. owner -Upgraded OEM-look audio headunit (w/ Bluetooth) -Replaced some plastics (soft top handle, upper console housing, other touch-points, gaskets) – Weathertech mats, car cover, sun shade -Full size spare (different rim) – https://youtu.be/ccDFGv6_k3k – engine sounds – https://youtu.be/DAzr5wF0IQM – Top open/close & rollbar Quirks: -The A/C LCD panel occasionally shows partial digits -Occasional steering wheel vibration around 75-80 mph (mechanic didn’t find a cause) -Evidence of minor leather repair on the driver seat, and touch-up paint repair (no obvious body repair) Issues: – Transmission oil pan gasket needs replacement in near future. No noticeable any drop in oil levels for the ~1.5 years – A/C vents near doors inconsistently turning on, possible vacuum line issue (electrics OK). Central vents work well – Due for oil change – left-half of the fuel gage burned out, right overhead console light broken Serious inquiries and local buyers only.
